While chatting on the phone with a good friend  here in Pearl River, this past winter, we had an idea. An amazing idea we can’t believe we didn’t think of sooner!  I have wanted to add a Creative Consultant to the Diane French Photography family, but not just anyone. I wanted someone who was creative, motivated, fun, professional, and someone who understands my passion and me.  I’ve wanted to do this for some time, and that day is finally here!

I want to introduce to you the newest member of the Diane French Photography family. This is Katy our New Creative Consultant! Yep that dear friend I was chatting with.  Not only have we been friends for years, she has helped me countless times since I started Diane French Photography. She has been one of my biggest cheerleaders. Not only has she helped me with work, she and her family have been my guinea pigs whenever I want to try something new photographically. She lets me bounce ideas off her and tells me when things need tweaking. She is a collaborator and a voice of reason. And of course we had to take her beautiful portrait!

She has an extensive background in the publishing industry, and funnily enough, she’s always worked closely with photographers. At Penn State’s Daily Collegian newspaper, she was the managing editor of design, overseeing the paper’s visual team including photojournalists and graphic designers. From there, she spent four-plus years as the assistant features editor at the York Daily Record/Sunday News, a large daily newspaper in York, Pa. This role often allowed her to be the bridge between photographers and reporters, figuring out how to tell a story best through a blend of visuals and the printed word. She also spent some time as an art assistant Wainscot Media, a Rockland/North Jersey-area magazine publisher, just before taking some time off to raise her three young kids. She says her favorite photographs are of those spontaneous, unposed moments that reveal the light that shines in each of us.

She will be taking over some very important tasks here. One I am super excited about is a featured weekly post about new and fun photo finds and ideas for the non-photographer (and even photographers). She already has a list of fun finds to share. I promise you that you won’t want to miss any of her blog posts.

So please join me in welcoming Katy to our growing family here at Diane French Photography.  Leave some love here on the blog or on Facebook. A warm welcome is the best kind!
