I took this photo the other day and I can’t stop looking at it. I posted it on Instagram and Facebook so you probably saw it already. I have been pulling it up on my phone over and over again. Needless to say, I’m obsessed with it. I love that the photo tells a story as well as stops time for a moment.
I think we all know that I LOVE photos and photography. I love to document everything. However I’ve been so busy with work and life, I’ve neglected my personal photo passions and projects. I have thousands of photos of my kids, life and family that are all on my computer and phone. I have no albums or photos up in my house. It’s a case of the cobbler’s kids that have no shoes.
After I took that photo, I thought, “I need a personal project. I need to slow down before my kids are grown.”
So there are a few things I’m going to do this summer and I really want you to join me to do one of them!
OK so there are 94 days of summer starting today June 20! 94 days seems like a long time but it goes so fast. I feel like kids change so much and so fast over the summer months. So many adventures both big and small will happen during these 94 days. I want to document that change and journey.
To do that, I will be taking one photo of my boys (alone or together), or just things in my life for the 94 days of summer! Mostly I will use my iPhone to keep it simple and attainable, but I will pull out the big fancy DSLR, and even my film camera too. The photos don’t have to be perfect, just moments of the everyday and the important things. Places we go, bugs we find, some tears I’m sure. At the end I will make an album. I WILL MAKE AN ALBUM!
I think this is an attainable project for anyone because you always have your phone right? You’re already more than halfway there! Heck I’m even going to make the album with some app like Chatbooks, Sticky9 or Artifact Uprising to keep it simple. There are so many apps I will have to see what I like best. In fact I just ordered my 1st Chatbook album so I’ll let you know what I think when I get it.
So who’s in? Kids, no kids, foodie, pet lover, nature enthusiast, it doesn’t matter! Just one pic a day. It can be anything! I promise you won’t regret it. In fact you will treasure these photos more and more every year. Make sue to use the hashtag #94DaySummerPhotoChallenge and add the photo number (Day 1) on Instagram and Facebook to share! If your profiles are private and you want me to see them, I’d be happy to follow you. You just have to let me know so we can connect! At the end of the summer I will choose my favorites to feature right here on the blog and I might have some other little surprise for you too!
What will your summer story look like?
