Wonder Woman Wednesday is back in full swing after our summer hiatus. And boy do we have some fantastic local ladies all lined up. I’ve had the pleasure of working with October’s talented lady twice now. Each time has been fun and full of laughs with her and her amazing staff. She is someone who gets things done. I love stalking her Instagram for creative color inspiration! She is a trend setter in the design world for sure!

Describe your business in 50 words or less.
Stacy Garcia Inc. is a global lifestyle brand creating bold, colorful, and well-traveled interior products. Our products span from floor to ceiling including textiles, wallcovering, carpet, lighting and furniture.
Why did you start your business?
I have been passionate about design for as long as I can remember. After first getting my degree in Surface Pattern Design from Syracuse University and gaining experience working at Ralph Lauren’s home division, I began designing textiles for another company in New York City. While working on a project, I had gathered materials for a new collection to present to my boss. The concept was rejected. Looking back now, that was a turning point. I believed in my color and design skills and decided to finally take that leap.
What’s different about you versus your competitors?
Not only am I a product designer but I am also a color & trend forecaster. I implement a research-based approach behind each and every collection that I develop. With 14 different licensees, we work together in bringing extensive knowledge to the table. I always make sure I am bringing something to the market that will excite people and make them think “wow that’s unique.”
What can your customers expect from you?
My customers can always expect bold, colorful, signature patterns … with a lot of personality!
What was the last big milestone or benchmark you hit and how did you reach it?
A huge milestone for me was launching Stacy Garcia | New York, my first step into the high-end residential market. Stacy Garcia | New York features finely crafted product with an eclectic, well-traveled, high-art appeal. Each collection is inspired, expressive and young at heart, adding a sophisticated edge to the ever-evolving world of interiors. In just over a year, we have developed collections in wallpaper, leather and furniture, and have our first fabric collection launching in 2017!
What is the most misunderstood part of your business?
The Stacy Garcia design house is a licensing brand that works hand in hand with leading manufacturers to design, produce and license award-winning products. Working with our partners, we are able to create products in various categories for resorts and homes all over the world. Some of our partnerships have lasted as long as 11 years!
What is one piece of advice you can give to any woman starting her own business?
My advice to anyone starting their own business is that you do not need to have all the answers! I believe the key to success is the willingness to take chances and take risks. You have to be willing to make mistakes and you must constantly strive to learn.
Any upcoming events or promotions you’d like to share?
We have designed a lounge space at this year’s Boutique Design trade show in NYC, where we will be launching new art-inspired commercial collections! Come check us out November 13 and 14 at Booth #645 at the Jacob K. Javits Center!
Thanks Stacy for taking the time from your uber busy schedule to chat with us. We will be keeping an eye on you to see what comes next in color trends and design.
