I woke up on the morning of this laughter-filled session to clouds and an overcast sky. Now overcast isn’t a bad thing for a photo session, but rain, not so much. I kept my fingers crossed for the rain to hold out as I headed out to Nyack to meet the Fox family. We started inside because this house had the most beautiful light! I know we should have went out right away, but I couldn’t resist this big huge picture window. As a photographer I am drawn to big windows and light. I just can’t help myself!Read More
I know you’ve all heard that it takes a village to raise a child. Since becoming a mom myself who doesn’t live down the road from my family, this statement couldn’t be any truer for me. Sometimes family is our village, and sometimes it’s friends. I’m a transplant to Rockland as is my husband. While my parents aren’t that far, they are too far for everyday help and visits. So what does a mom do? We make our own village. I have been super lucky to find an amazing group of friends who are a big part of my village. I could not have started this business without them in so many ways. They have been my biggest supporters, copy editors (how I need them), babysitters, shoulders to lean on, models and the list goes on.Read More
A year has gone by, and this little man recently celebrated his first birthday with a Smash Cake Session! It really felt like yesterday that I met and photographed Sebastien when he was only days old for his newborn session (click here to see this guy as an itty bitty squishy!). It always surprises me how much babies change in a year, but how certain things about them stay the same. His hair went from dark and straight to curly and a little lighter. His eyes kept that beautiful blue color that will be wowing everyone his whole life. His smile and laugh is contagious!
So in our first installment of Spring Cleaning Your Photos, we established a system for getting all of your pics from your various digital devices nicely organized onto one central computer. But here’s the rub: It’s not a question of “if” your computer’s hard drive will fail, it’s “when.” So that brings us to Spring Cleaning Your Photos Part 2: Backup.Read More

Remember these two love birds from their snowy bump session in Tappan, NY, this past winter (click here to see the full maternity session)? Well, that cute bump is now a handsome baby boy! He made his appearance a little earlier than expected, but not to dismay he was just perfect!
I was super excited when I heard the news that it was a boy and that I was going to get to hold him in my arms (I was needing my baby fix)! I must say he was a superstar sleeper, and very strong even in his sleep. We just couldn’t get him to uncurl his little fingers.
If you’re like me, Mother’s Day isn’t always about (well let’s just say it), ME! We have to go here, see this person and that. Having two crazy boys myself, I can truly relate to what the M. family’s future has in store for them. In September, they welcomed their second son into their family. That’s right, second son. Older brother was such a cutie and was definitely stealing the show in some of the photos he was in, and little brother was just soooo adorable. You just wanted to gobble him up, nuzzle him, hug him and kiss him!
I really loved how this family interacted with each other and the love that they showed for each other. Dad even said he was so glad that Mom had scheduled this photo shoot. So when Dad’s happy, you know everything is going really well.Read More
You’re expecting a baby. (Congratulations!) You’d LOVE to hire a photographer to capture precious pictures of your newborn boy or girl to forever remember just how itty bitty they once were. (Smart girl!) So, you start to do some online research. And you notice two basic approaches to choose from: posed or lifestyle.
So how do you know which one is right for you? Read on to find out.Read More
We ended 2014 with the fun-loving R. family. We really did have a blast in November. We lucked out and had some really great weather – it wasn’t too cold, it wasn’t too hot, it was just right.
We did a lot of running around and playing. I definitely came home dirty this day, but it was well worth it. The smiles we got were awesome. The laughs we got were hysterical. There were some bribes in there and I’m sure that sugar helped, but man was this a great shoot.Read More
At the end of one year and the beginning of a new year, I, like other people, look back at the past and toward the future. I look at my successes and my failures, and the goals I set for myself. What did I accomplish? What did I not accomplish? How did I accomplish those things I thought would never happen?Read More
Christmas is only (gulp) 9 days away. It’s too late to order most customized photo gifts without paying an arm and a leg in rushing fees, so it might just be time to roll up your sleeves and do it yourself.
I also have one special DIY project to share. My oldest sister is the unofficial photographer and archivist in my family, and she has made many beautiful photo presents over the years. One of my favorites is a translucent Christmas tree ornament featuring a treasured photo of my maternal grandparents:
This week we’ll highlight four fun gift ideas that help you display your photos in unusual ways.
1. Stick them up. Looking for a sleek way to put pictures on a special someone’s wall? Have them printed as satin-finish decals you can literally stick right on to any smooth surface. Pinhole Press offers various shapes and sizes, starting at $12.99 for a set of 12 3.42″ x 3.42″ square photos and going up to $29.99 for a set of 3 11″ x 17″ photos.
2. On the chain. Friends and family alike will thank you for the versatile How’s it Hangin’ Photo Chain at the Photojojo Store. This 5-foot-long metal chain hangs vertically or horizontally and comes with 8 super-strong magnets that allow you to swap your photos in and out with ease. Order 1 for $12 or 3 for $28.
3. Go metal. To elevate a photo to a modern work of art, consider the frameless metal prints offered by Tiny Prints. Starting at $79.99, these sleek and stylish prints will add a bit of shine to any wall. Adding text is a cool way to personalize the gift even more. And don’t forget to use our exclusive Tiny Prints code for 40 percent off of your total order through December 10. Click here for more details.
4. Stick them up (again). For the loyal Fun Photo Finds readers out there (all tens and ones of you), you may recall one of our earliest blog entries featured Sticky9. This UK-based company turns your Instagrams and other photos into magnets and various other stick-i-fied gifts. And if you have a friend or loved one who keeps their Instagram account public, you can access their photos for super-secret surprise gifting as well. Follow this link for their personalized Christmas gift suggestions, including their classic set of 9 square photo magnets starting at $14.99.

This week we’ll take a quick look at some holiday gifts that feature photos in places you might not expect.
1. Your feet: Now you can buy a pair of Adidas ZX FLUX sneakers customized with a photo you snapped yourself. As long as it’s not a copyrighted image, the sky is the limit for what pics you can put on these puppies. A city skyline? A great meal? Your beloved pooch? The sneakers just became available in the U.S. on November 11, so these custom kicks would be a cutting edge present for the super stylish set. To get started, download the miZX FLUX app for iPhones, iPads and Android. Sneakers start at $110. Orders take 4-6 weeks so that means you better move to get them in time for the holidays!Read More
