I first met this momma at story time at our local library. She was always upbeat and so sweet to my little man. My youngest and her oldest are the same age. Little did I know, over a year (maybe two), later she would call about a photo session. As we chatted I remembered her and her beautiful little girl. I was pleasantly surprised to know she now had an adorable little boy.Read More
Maybe it’s the fireworks. Maybe it’s the food. Or maybe it’s the joyous celebration of freedom. Whatever it is, there’s just something about the Fourth of July that creates a fun mood for taking family photos!
OK so I am so behind with our photo session Blogs! We are shooting and shooting but not blogging! May and June are always crazy for me personally, but this year the shooting schedule is awesome! I think our long, horrible, cold, snowy winter has us all out and about. I am loving meeting all of you and your families.
Meet the Mitchell Clan! I love these guys. I know that this fourth of July will mean a lot to them this year. So why not show off their red white and blue to you! We had so much fun at our session. All three kids were so polite, sweet and let’s not forget ADORABLE! I ran races with the boys and well Miss Molly was just too cute not to chase around. So let’s take a look at this fun bunch.
These 3 are just too cute looking right up at me.
Oh Miss Molly you are adorable with your stunning blue eyes!
How handsome is this young man!
Ladies watch out! He’s not just handsome but so sweet!
There is nothing better than 2 older brothers!
Oh do I feel bad for her future boyfriends! With these two big brothers on each side, nobody better mess with her!
Thank you Mitchell Clan for a wonderful session, and seeing you again. I love the idea of our family session becoming a tradition. I can’t wait to see how your family grows!
Check out next week’s blog post about some fun photo themes and ideas for your 4th of July! We’ve got a Pinterest board just busting with ideas to share!

I don’t know about you, but my iPhone has replaced my digital camera for most of my day-to-day picture taking. It’s just as fast and easy, and it’s usually within arms reach to capture those spontaneous moments when my kids are being cute and/or crazy.
However, I’m just as completely terrible about making prints of my iPhone pics as I’ve been of those from my digital camera. And at the end of the day, nothing beats having actual, physical copies of your favorite photos in your hands!
Enter GrooveBook. This clever company has developed an app-based monthly service to create a 4.5” by 6.5” photobook of up to 100 of your phone photos and mail it to you for $2.99. (If this sounds familiar, perhaps you saw GrooveBook’s successful appearance on ABC’s “Shark Tank.”)
Almost sounds too good to be true, right? So we decided to put it to the test and sign up for a GrooveBook ourselves.
For this week’s Fun Photo Find, I’m excited to do something I haven’t done before: Feature the very newest and coolest of the exclusive products offered by Diane French Photography.
Before I get into it, you’re going to have to allow me to brag about Diane a little bit.
But beyond this talent, she excels at putting those pictures into your hands as equally stunning prints, canvases, photo books and more. She seeks out the highest quality items in the photography world and delivers them to her clients, all wrapped up in beautiful packaging to boot.
Which brings me to her latest addition available in her top collection of products or as an add-on to any Digital Negatives purchase: a completely customized, personalized app of your session’s photos for viewing on your phone or tablet (iOS and Android both supported).
I had the honor this May to photograph the sweetest little baby boy. We had to go to Queens due to unexpected construction, but soooooo worth the trip. Since most of my newborns have been girls the last 2 years, it was fun to break out the boy stuff! He did not disappoint.
Not to incite outright panic or anything, but Father’s Day is a mere 12 days away. Never fear – we’re here to help! This week’s Fun Photo Finds is dedicated to giving you great photo-driven gift ideas you can still turn around in time.
I love to incorporate favorite photos of our children into my husband’s gifts. It’s the fastest way to create a keepsake of a particular moment in time for your family.
Perhaps you have some beautiful photos like these from Diane French Photography’s archives to draw upon. (If not, make a mental note for next year: contact Diane to book a session!)
We return to the land of apps for this week’s Fun Photo Find, and if you’re an Instagram fan, this one’s for you.
I’m fairly new to using filters for my iPhone photos, but there’s something kind of addicting about it.
A simple swish of the finger can transform …
an ordinary, slightly out of focus iPhone photo of my daughter holding her first “game ball” into something dreamy … vintage … or classic.
The standard “Edit” option for iPhone photos gives you 8 basic filters to choose from. On Instagram, the number shoots up to 19. But thanks to the PicTapGo app, my filter possibilities are limitless.Read More
Just in time for our Spring Mini Sessions! Figuring out what to wear for your family photographs can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be! Spring is giving us some great colors to work with – pinks, corals, mints, teals – just to name a few. Pair any of these colors with a neutral color (brown, cream, grey) – and you’ll be good to go!
For this week’s Fun Photo Find, we’re paying our first visit to the land of apps – specifically those for Apple products since I work on a combo of MacBook and iPhone these days. And apps aren’t just for phones and tablets anymore – developers are making them for your computers now too.
It’s been a long winter and everyone I talk to can’t wait for the good weather to stay for a bit. My kids have cabin fever for sure. My shutter finger is twitchy just thinking about being outside in the warm weather. Let’s not forget the longer days and beautiful evening light that I adore.
To celebrate coming out of our “caves,” our new site and so much more, we have opened up the ever so rare Diane French Photography Mini Sessions! I only offer Mini Session a few times a year as a special treat for all you photography lovers who don’t always have a chance to book a full session. Oh and spoiler alert, what better gift for mom than to book a session for her and the loves of her life for Mother’s Day! Check the calendar and see if May 18th is open. If so, give me a call at (516) 238-1423! Just make sure not to surprise mom with it the day of the Session. She may want to make sure she does her hair and plans the outfits. 🙂
This year our Spring Minis will be held at the Historic DeWint House. Aside from the beautiful old brick Colonial Dutch building that is the DeWint House, I’ve got my eye on two gorgeous trees as a beautiful backdrop! Plus, a little stream runs through the property and hopefully the tulips will be in bloom! What’s not to love?Read More
I had so much fun with this family when I went to this newborn session. Now she was already 3 weeks old so I was expecting this little lady to make me sweat it out. Why you ask? Believe it or not, 3 weeks old is well, old for a newborn session if you want to get the sweet sleepy posed images. It sounds crazy but true. However mom was AWESOME and followed all the tips and tricks to get her sleepy for me. It was actually hard to get this first shot!

Yay the blog is up and running again! Here is a newborn session from this past winter. I had the pleasure of meeting this sweet little girl and her fun and energetic family. There is such a difference between first-time parents and the more experienced parents. I love working with both for so many reasons. For the parents who are now pros at this bringing-home-baby gig, there is a different vibe in the house. Baby just slides right into place.
This family was no different in that way. As we were shooting this sweet little girl’s photos, the dog had to get in there to give his newest family member kisses. Her older brother (who was also a cutie and a sweetheart) was curious about everything going on. All while Mom, Dad and I laughed and chatted away. This family definitely had me cracking up from their Newborn Session to their Session Premiere. It doesn’t get any better that that! Seriously, getting to snuggle a new little squsihy and laugh a lot. BEST JOB EVER!
I hope you enjoy these long overdue portraits of this sweet little girl and her family!

While chatting on the phone with a good friend here in Pearl River, this past winter, we had an idea. An amazing idea we can’t believe we didn’t think of sooner! I have wanted to add a Creative Consultant to the Diane French Photography family, but not just anyone. I wanted someone who was creative, motivated, fun, professional, and someone who understands my passion and me. I’ve wanted to do this for some time, and that day is finally here!
I am completely thrilled (and slightly terrified) to present to you the brand new website for Diane French Photography! It’s been a labor of love for months now. And like actual labor, it’s taken hours of sweat, tears, some yelling (if only at my computer screen!) and a few big pushes to deliver, but I hope you’ll agree this baby is a beauty!
